The weather today will be mostly sunny in the morning. It will then be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon—highs in the mid-70s and a low of 50—Southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. The chance of rain is 40%.
Put-and-take areas have a five-trout limit and specific spring closures depending on location. Consult the Maryland Guide to Fishing and Crabbing for closure dates and special management area restrictions. The daily limit in areas (that are not put-and-take or special management areas) is two trout with no minimum size and no closed season, except in special trout management and put-and-take areas.
Golden and rainbow trout have been stocked in Jennings Randolph Lake.

The Deep Creek Watershed Foundation was notified that it will receive the 2022 William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award for Garrett County.
There are recent changes to Coast Guard Regulations relating to fire extinguisher requirements for boats. The new regulations will take effect on April 20, 2022 and, in general, make it illegal to carry an extinguisher with a date of manufacture more than 12 years old.

Southern High Head Basketball Coach, Tom Bosley, coached the East All-Stars in this week’s McDonald’s All American Basketball Game in Chicago. Tom was selected from the thousands of high school coaches to be one of two head coaches for this prestigious event. Under Tom’s tutelage was Dereck Lively, the country’s top-ranked player who is heading to Duke next year. The East, under Tom, crushed the West 105-81.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan and leaders in the legislature have reached a $1.86 billion agreement for tax relief over five years for retirees, small businesses and low-income families.
After a judge declared Maryland’s congressional map unconstitutional, lawmakers spent the weekend redrawing the boundaries, working to submit a new version before the court-ordered March 30 deadline. Judge Lynne Battaglia called Maryland’s congressional map an example of “extreme partisan gerrymandering.”

A documentary chronicles the harrowing journey that emperor penguins make amid violent South Pole snowstorms to mate. On Sunday, join Ranger Noah for a fireside chat about the history of maple syrup making, followed by a moderately difficult 1.5-mile hike highlighting some of the tools of the trade.
