Cloudy most of today but warm with a high of 62 degrees. Some rain this afternoon and a low of 46. There is a flood watch in effect from this evening through Friday afternoon.

The Utilities Division of the Dept of Public Works is advising customers on the Bloomington Water system that a temporary water outage is planned for Friday, February 16, 2018.  This is necessary as part of the water tank replacement project and should take a couple hours between 9am and 3pm.

Here is an ice hummock on Deep Creek Lake. When the edge of the ice gets pushed upwards from the pressure from the main body of water it is called a hummock. If the ice on the edge gets pushed down by the pressure, it’s called a bummock.

Ice Conditions in Garrett County are ever-changing so BE CAREFUL!

Cpl. May from the Maryland Natural Resources Police reported the following on Feb 10:

–Deep Creek Lake:
McHenry, 9 to 12 inches
Marina Club in McHenry, 9 inches
Cherry Creek, 6 to 9 inches on main body
State Park boat ramp, 12 inches
Bill’s Outdoor Center main lake, 12 inches
State Park Cove, 10 to 12 inches

–Piney Dam:
Main body, 7 to 8 inches
Near dam, 3 inches
Where Piney comes into the dam, 4 to 6 inches

–Savage Reservoir:
Main body, 8 to 12 inches, with slush on edges. It is about five feet from bank to good ice. Many areas, where the streams come into the reservoir, are without ice.
