The Cornucopia Cafe is closing for now — hopefully not for good.
As we all know, times are hard for restaurants right now. The cafe has weathered the storm for many months following the pandemic.
Unfortunately, due to such limited staffing, and even more limited business, the management has made the hard decision to close for now.
The team will be reevaluating what they can do in the next few weeks and will post more updates as they become available.
Many of the dedicated staff have weathered the storms with us, and for that we thank them.

Deep Creek Bar and Grill is open April 2, 2022 in the Sand Flat plaza (by Thompson Gas). A 50 seat restaurant bar with indoor and outdoor seating and a 20 seat bar. Stop by and say hello!
Come one, come all to Opening Day of the Deep Creek Farmers Market’s first season! Starting on May 27th, you can find Deep Creek Farmers Market in Parking Lot A at Garrett College, 687 Mosser Road, McHenry, MD, every Friday from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM through Labor Day. The market is a rain or shine event!
Garrett Trails is fully funded through an MDOT Recreational Trails Program grant and match from the Community Trust Foundation, and is close to wrapping up NEPA reviews! This winter, Garrett Trails will move to procurement for a contractor to build 1.2 miles of new single track connecting the Beige Trail in the Fork Run Recreation Area to Wisp Resort and ASCI. Additional funding has been secured for signage upgrades at the Shingle Camp Road trailhead and throughout the trail system.

Fit With Jen, a group fitness and personal training studio, just held a ribbon-cutting at its new location in the Dry Dock Plaza. Owner and operator Jen Sober has been in the fitness industry for 30 years, and Fit With Jen currently offers a variety of group exercise classes, including spinning, TRX, HIIT conditioning, and more.
The Garrett County detachment of the Maryland State Police and Natural Resources Police and Special Olympics Maryland has decided to cancel the already postponed 2021 Deep Creek Dunk, that was to have taken place on September 26th. Instead, the dunk will return on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Deep Creek Lake.

The Leigh Friend Solar Project is a new 3.2 megawatt DC (MWdc) community solar project located in Friendsville. With 9,300 ground-mounted solar modules, the project generates enough clean, renewable solar energy to power the equivalent of 405 homes per year.

The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) has initiated the MD 39 (Hutton Road) bridge replacement project at the crossing of the Youghiogheny River (GA1975180). The purpose of the project is to address the deteriorated condition of the existing bridge in accordance with the goal of keeping Maryland’s Transportation System in a state of good repair.

Rolling Racks BBQ is a concession trailer in the process of becoming a fast casual restaurant specializing in grilled chicken, barbecued ribs, various sides served with homemade breads and desserts. A grant was awarded to Mountain Lake Park for a new park that will memorialize former Mayor, Leo Martin. Plans have been drawn up for the site on the southern intersection of Maryland Highway (Rt. 135) and G Street. There will be an elevated stage, outdoor classroom with terraced seating, a castle spire with slides and a water jetted splash pad.
