We had quite a snowfall on Friday and there were some serious accidents in the County. The weather for today may be a bit more snow. Flurries throughout the day with accumulations of about an inch. High of 33 and low of 21.

Had a great time and learned a lot at the New Germany State Park Civilian Conservation Corps event yesterday afternoon. Great documentary and conversations, including a talk with local expert Bill Martin.

If you are an Oakland resident, don’t forget to vote today for mayor and city council positions. The polls are open until 6:00pm.

Congratulations to Spencer Schlosnagle, who was reelected and sworn in as mayor of Friendsville on Friday. I believe that this will be his 17th term!

Even as snow covers the ground here in Garrett County, today is National Plant a Flower Day. With over 400,000 known flowering plant species, we have a lot of options to choose from.  So even if you start some seeds indoors, you can be ready for the coming of spring.

Requests are currently being solicited for the FY2019 Appalachian Regional Commission grant cycle in Garrett County. Eligible applicants include governmental, non-profit and educational institutions.  The deadline for submission is April 6th.
