Learning Beyond the Classroom is WILD ABOUT SUMMER! Join us for fun, learning, books, and community all summer long at stops across Garrett County for children ages Birth-5.This summer’s themes are: June: Wild About ANIMALS July: Wild About WHEELS August: Wild About LEGOSEach child will receive a new book, and each family will take home a learning activity and a bag of food. We can’t wait to see you at one of our morning stops this summer!

POA General Membership Meeting will be held at Garrett Cinema at 8:30 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Breakfast snacks are served at 8:00 AM. The agenda will include comments from various county and state officials, along with updates on many items concerning the lake and surrounding area. As always, member input and questions are welcome.

Kids of all ages can join us anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Summer Fun Days for games and activities that will be set up in the meeting room. Preregistration is not available, but please sign-in at the information desk when you arrive. Play time may be limited to 30 minutes if the room reaches capacity and others are waiting to join. Parent supervision is required since library staff may not always be present. Today’s activity is an obstacle course that will challenge your balance and agility with a low ropes course, wobble stones, balance beam, and hurdles. Disclaimer(s): This program is designed for children and accompanying adults. Please plan to attend and be engaged with your child for this program. Drop-offs will not be permitted. Programs, events, and classes may be photographed or videotaped for library promotional purposes. Join Deep Creek Lake Lion's Club on June 23, 5:30 PM, for the official opening of our new pavilion dedicated to Ed King. Ed was a long-time Lion, a Past President of the club, Melvin Jones Fellow, and the backbone of the club for many years. Often referred to as "the mayor of Deep Creek Lake," Ed also had a deep love for the area and was active in many other organizations. We're expecting that our new 40x70 ft Pavilion will facilitate many new community events. We'll have a short dedication program, and then we'll roll right into our regular Lions Club dinner meeting, which everyone is welcome to attend. There will be complimentary refreshments, and we'd be happy to host you for dinner. McHenry Community Park.
