The annual Autumn Glory Festival is a five-day celebration of autumn that celebrates the beauty of the local fall foliage.
The 2026 Autumn Glory King is Jaxxton Miller and the Queen is Jayden Weaver.

Fireman’s Parade

The procession features local fire, EMS, and law enforcement vehicles, bands, and community groups through downtown Oakland.

2026 Maryland State Banjo, Fiddle, and Mandolin Championships
Southern Garrett High School 345 Oakland Dr., Oaklan, MD, United StatesThis year the event will be held on October 9th, 2026 at Southern Garrett High School in Oakland, Maryland. Joining us as master of ceremonies again this year is husband and wife team, Steve and Katie Smith, from the Steve Smith Band! At the end of the contests, we welcome all contestants to return to the stage for a Jam Session with Steve! Applications must be received by Saturday, September 19th to be printed in the event program. Applicants may register at the door the night of the competition, up until 5:30pm. The competition begins at 6:00 pm. Check-in and registration for participants is from 5:00-5:30pm. The doors open for spectators at 5pm. Registration forms may be mailed to Tracy Park, 15 S. Third Street, Oakland, Maryland or emailed to tpark@oaklandmd.gov. Please make sure to review the updated contest rules. This year we will have a combination of cash payouts and certificates. Cash payouts will be mailed out the week following the events completion. The Maryland State Banjo, Fiddle, & Mandolin Championships have been an Autumn Glory tradition and a great family fun event for many years. Autumn Glory 5K Run / 2-Mile Walk
Broadford Lake 120 Recreation Ln off Rt. 135 in Mt. Lake Park, Mountain Lake Park, MD, United StatesKick off your Autumn Glory weekend with a run through idyllic Broadford Park. The Oakland/Mountain Lake Park Lions Club hosts the Autumn Glory 5K Run and 2-Mile Walk on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Broadford Lake. 5K runners start at 8:30 a.m., with 2-mile walkers following at 8:40 a.m. Runners may walk, but walkers should refrain from running. Race-day registration and packet pick-up begin at 7:00 a.m. All activities take place outdoors or under an open pavilion, so be prepared for the weather. Parking is next to the start/finish. The course follows Broadford Lake across the breast dam to Simon Pearce glass blowing and back, over a mixture of pavement, mowed grass trails, and gravel road. Bib numbers are recorded manually at the finish (no chip timing), so please wear your bib visibly on the front of your outfit and be sure it is recorded as you exit the finish chute.
