The Maryland Fall Foliage Report for November 6, 2025, shows that in Western Maryland, fall colors have faded and leaves are well past peak, leaving plenty of crunch underfoot on trails and roads. This is the final foliage report of the season.
Fall fishing is in full swing with fresh trout stocked in many management waters across the region. Anglers can still find plenty of action in put-and-take areas, as well as delayed harvest, youth-only, and catch-and-release waters through the winter. Preseason trout stocking kicks off in January with generous numbers expected.

Motorists should expect an overnight ramp closure and detour on westbound I-68 at Exit 40 (Vocke Road) in Allegany County on November 9 from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM while crews replace a highway drainage inlet. Traffic will be detoured via Exit 39. Drivers are urged to stay alert, follow posted speed limits, and use caution in the work zone.

The Maryland State Department of Education has released the 2024 to 2025 Maryland School Report Card, with GCPS earning an average of 3.45 stars, above the state average of 3.35. Five schools received four stars, and six earned three. GCPS also showed strong gains in science, with MISA proficiency rising 8.6% in Grade 8 and 13.2% in high school, earning state recognition for outpacing statewide growth.

With changing conditions and rain in the forecast, anglers are advised to stay cautious of shifting water levels later this week.
