The weather today will be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, freezing rain, and snow, mainly in the morning. Little or no snow accumulation is expected, but ice accumulation could reach up to a tenth of an inch. Highs will be in the mid-30s. West winds will range from 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph. The chance of precipitation is 50%.

On Friday, November 22, 2024, two Southern Garrett County High School students joined 53 students from 15 schools statewide to compete in the 22nd Annual “Rethink Recycling” Sculpture Competition, hosted by the Maryland Department of the Environment in Baltimore.

Garrett County Public Schools is excited to announce that Serenity Bunner, a senior at Northern Garrett High School, has been selected as a student page for the 2025 Maryland General Assembly’s Page Program.

Taylor Troy, RN, was named the DAISY Award recipient at Garrett Regional Medical Center for outstanding, compassionate nursing care.

  • Bill’s Marine Services will be closed from December 24th, 2024, until January 1st, 2025. They will reopen with normal business hours on January 2nd, 2025.
  • Cashmere Clothing Co. will have modified shopping hours this week for all last-minute shoppers. After Christmas deals will begin on Thursday.
  • Firewater Kitchen & Bar will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to allow staff time with their loved ones. They will reopen on Thursday with extended hours through the New Year!
