Southern Garrett High School’s Student Council will host Joshua Mayne, MA, from Top Youth Speakers, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in the SGHS cafetorium to discuss the dangers of vaping nicotine and THC. Parents, students in grades 3–8, and community members are encouraged to attend. Local resources on vape prevention will follow the talk.

The second session of Quit Now classes will take place today in Oakland from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM and in Grantsville from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM. These classes offer support and free cessation aids to help you quit nicotine.

The Garrett County Board of Education meets today at Northern Middle School’s cafeteria, followed by a public hearing on the northern area proposal. The meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed.
