The Maryland State Highway Administration has started a slope stabilization project on I-68 EB near Finzel, closing the right lane before MD 546. Work is expected to finish by late September, weather permitting.
Due to recent flooding, raw sewage has been reported in Braddock Run and Georges Creek in Allegany County, prompting a warning to avoid contact with those waters. Garrett County is not affected, as we are upstream from the impacted areas, but Allegany County does neighbor Garrett County.

The Garrett County Health Department has confirmed its fourth rabies case of 2025 after a feral cat attacked five people in McHenry between the night of June 11 and early June 12. All victims received medical care, and animal control was alerted by healthcare providers who recognized the cases as related.
