2nd DCL100 Trivia Night a Success

2nd DCL100 Trivia Night a Success

Deep Creek Lake’s centennial celebration has brought the community together in countless meaningful ways—and the DCL100 Trivia Night’s at Ace’s Run are no exception. On Thursday evening, we joined friends Mary, Jared, and Lisa for a night of lively trivia, local history, and more than a few laughs.

The evening was the perfect mix of entertainment and connection. My husband and I shared the Marsh Mountain Burger—an indulgent favorite—and topped it off with a slice of New York strawberry cheesecake that was just as memorable as the trivia itself.

Questions ranged from historical milestones to local legends, and while some stumped us, the fun was in the shared effort (and occasional debate) as a team. Between rounds, the atmosphere buzzed with friendly competition and stories of Deep Creek’s past.

If you haven’t made it to a trivia night yet, there’s still time. Two more Thursday events remain, offering a unique opportunity to celebrate Deep Creek Lake’s 100-year legacy in a casual, engaging setting. Whether you’re a trivia buff or just looking for a fun night out with friends, this is an event worth putting on your calendar.

For more information and upcoming dates, visit DCL100.com/events or our DCT Event Calendar.

Everything You Need to Know About DCL100 Trivia Events

Everything You Need to Know About DCL100 Trivia Events

Think you know Deep Creek Lake? Time to prove it.

As part of the Deep Creek Lake Centennial celebration, DCL100 Trivia Nights at Ace’s Run are bringing fun, facts, and a little friendly competition to your Thursday evenings. Whether you’re a history buff, a longtime local, or just in it for the good food and good times, this event is for you — and it’s completely free to play.

We had a great time at the first session and we did not come close to winning!

How It Works

Step 1: Head Inside
Walk into Ace’s Run Restaurant & Pub and go to the host podium near the front (through the bar). The game takes place in the dining room.

Step 2: Sign Up Your Team
Give the host your team name (the more creative, the better). You’ll receive a small packet with an answer sheet, small answer coupons, and some basic instructions.

Step 3: Grab a Seat and Get Ready
Order a drink or some food, settle in, and get ready to test your Deep Creek Lake knowledge across three lively rounds of trivia.

Game Format

  • Three Rounds of questions, each with a different theme.

  • For each question, your team wagers 1 to 4 points — but each point value can only be used once per round.

  • Fill out your answer sheet and drop it into the answer bucket at the end of each round.

Final Question Twist:
After three rounds, there’s one last question — and it can completely change the outcome. Wager wisely. This one keeps it exciting until the very end.

Upcoming Trivia Nights

Mark your calendar for these upcoming “Lake” trivia dates:

  • April 10

  • April 17

  • April 24

You can find these and all centennial events listed at dcl100.com/events.

Why You Should Attend

DCL100 Trivia at Ace’s Run is a free and fun way to spend the evening with friends, family, or co-workers—complete with great food and drinks, a chance to learn about Deep Creek Lake’s 100-year history, and the thrill of friendly competition with prizes and bragging rights on the line. I learned a thing or two about the area, too!

Bonus: When is the Birthday Bash event scheduled this year? It is estimated to be very near the exact date of the 100th anniversary of the lake!

Celebrating 100 Years of Deep Creek Lake with a Serigraph Print by Erick Sahler

Celebrating 100 Years of Deep Creek Lake with a Serigraph Print by Erick Sahler

Originally published by Property Owners’ Association of Deep Creek Lake, Inc.

To honor Deep Creek Lake’s 100th anniversary, the Maryland Park Service commissioned a stunning serigraph print by celebrated artist Erick Sahler. This captivating artwork beautifully showcases the natural charm of Maryland’s largest freshwater lake, capturing its vibrant scenery and the deep connection shared by all who visit and love it.

The serigraph highlights a tranquil shoreline at Deep Creek Lake State Park, with boats adding life to the scene— a fisherman’s boat anchored in place, while another boat offers a leisurely ride. The Glendale Bridge rises in the background, adding a sense of place, while delicate swamp milkweed blooms in the foreground, symbolizing the thriving natural ecosystem. At its heart, the lake itself serves as the true focal point, embodying the inviting atmosphere that draws people to its shores year after year.

Erick Sahler, an Illustrator Member of the prestigious Society of Illustrators, has earned a reputation for creating artwork that captures the essence of place. His serigraphs are celebrated not only for their technical mastery but for the way they reflect the unique character and spirit of the mid-Atlantic region. Sahler’s work focuses on bringing places to life and celebrating the deep connections between nature, people, and community.

This Deep Creek Lake serigraph is no exception. Sahler drew inspiration from his visit to the lake, working closely with park staff whose passion and love for the area deeply informed his creative process. The goal was to reflect on the experience of being at Deep Creek Lake. It’s not just about the view—it’s about the feeling of being connected to the water, the land, and the people who make it special.

This commemorative artwork will be featured in advertisements throughout the centennial celebrations and will soon be available for purchase at the Deep Creek Lake Discovery Center. Visitors will have the opportunity to bring home this stunning tribute, serving as a cherished keepsake of the lake’s enduring beauty.

The Maryland Park Service is thrilled to share this collaboration with Erick Sahler, whose work has found its place in numerous distinguished collections. This serigraph is a vibrant and heartfelt celebration of Deep Creek Lake’s natural beauty and the memories it inspires in all who visit. Stay tuned for its release at the Discovery Center, and don’t miss the chance to own this extraordinary piece of Deep Creek Lake’s story.
