Fishing Report – November 13: Anglers at Deep Creek Lake are having a great week, especially for walleye along steep, rocky shores and around the Route 219 bridge piers. Evening fishing is productive, with small crankbaits, jerk baits, and white tube rigs in a drop-shot setup being top choices. As the water cools, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and northern pike are also more active, making for an exciting time on the lake!

On the eve of the 2024 Presidential election, AAUW-Garrett Branch hosted a reading of Good Lazy Woman: 2024 Election Edition, written by Catherine Stewart, at the Bethel Center in Mountain Lake Park. About 50 people attended the event on November 3, where Mayor Don Sincell welcomed guests with a brief history of the building. The production was organized by AAUW members Mary Helen Spear and Jennifer Virts.

Garrett County is still under a burn ban.
Garrett County reminds residents that leaf cleanup is their responsibility. Avoid blowing leaves into ditches, as it can block drainage and damage roads; instead, compost or bag leaves for landfill drop-off.
The Ruth Enlow Library is honored to receive a $60,000 bequest from the estate of Virginia Lee Neff, a retired teacher, artist, and library enthusiast who passed away at 77 on May 29, 2023.
