There’s something kind of perfect about spending Good Friday with good people, doing what we love. We had a group of 10 roll out for a ride — a mix of different paces, comfort levels, and friend groups — but once we hit the trail, it all just clicked like it always does. Bikes have a way of bringing people together like that.

We started at Herrington Manor and hit the yellow trail right out of the gate. Uphill, of course — the classic warm-up that gets everyone’s legs talking. From there, we dropped into the cross-country ski trails and looped around to blue, soaking in the early signs of spring and the usual good chatter.

Then came the longer climb on orange. It’s not short, it’s not easy, but it’s always worth it. We made our way around the loop to the campsite and then started the real punch: the climb up Snaggy Mountain Road. There’s no pretending that one’s mellow, but with this crew, we kept it fun — just enough burn to feel proud at the top.

Usually, the descent down orange marks the end of the ride. And it was a great ending… but we weren’t quite ready to be done. So we turned it around and tacked on the dam crossing and a return trip down yellow — which, let’s be honest, is the most fun part anyway. That flowy downhill section is just pure joy.

All said and done, we knocked out a little over 11 miles and more than 1,000 feet of climbing. But it wasn’t about the stats — it was about showing up, sharing trail time, and making memories with friends. Just a good, casual ride that reminded me why I love this community so much.

If you haven’t joined us yet, you should. Rides like this don’t need a big reason — just a bike, some snacks, and a crew that likes to ride. Follow our rides on Facebook or Instagram @DCABfun.

See you out there.
