Virtual Brunch ‘n Learn: Preserving Deep Creek Lake with Riparian Buffer

Virtual Brunch and Learn- Preserving Deep Creek Lake with Riparian Buffer at Deep Creek Lake, MD

Carolyn Sheaffer from the Deep Creek Watershed Foundation will be presenting an introduction to the 10 in 10 conservation landscaping program. This initiative represents the Department of Natural Resources’ goal of achieving 10% of the lakeshore buffer strip planted with native plants and trees within the next decade. The program aims to combat further erosion of the lakeshore by stabilizing soils through the roots of native plants, offering an economical and natural approach to preserving and cultivating a living shoreline.

Riparian buffers, consisting of native vegetation along the shoreline, play a key role in this effort.

Learn about how you can participate in this vital project and contribute to its success during this webinar featuring guest speakers Eric Null, DCL Lake Manager with DNR, Julia Vache, DNR Natural Resource Planner II, and Robert “Bob” Sutton, DCL POA President.
