The Garrett Community Concert Band presents its spring concert, An Afternoon at the Pops! This concert is reminiscent of the famous Boston Pops concerts directed by John Williams and the Pittsburgh Symphony Pops directed by Marvin Hamlisch. We will perform a variety of classical and popular selections by John Williams, Leroy Anderson, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and Edward Grieg. Selections from Les Misérables and West Side Story plus Aaron Copeland's Appalachian Spring are some of the other offerings on this program. You won't want to miss it! The concert will take place at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 28th at the PAC's Offutt Theatre. Patrons are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets online at GarrettArts.org or visit The Gallery shop in Oakland to buy tickets in person. The Trauma-Informed Care Summit is on June 5, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Performing Arts Center in Garrett College. Moving to the next level: Putting Trauma-Informed Care into Practice. Join for this trauma-informed education, including interactive workshops, to: Understand how trauma affects the brain and nervous system Discover practical methods for applying trauma-responsive practices in various sectors Recognize the importance of working together across different fields to address trauma and more! The keynote speaker is Amie Myrick. Amie is a Maryland Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who specializes in working with traumatized populations and is an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Master Presenter. Amie has presented at local, national, and international conferences for over 15 years on topics related to trauma and advocacy.
