Leadership Garrett County is accepting applications for its Class of 2025, which will begin in February.
Leadership Garrett County is offered through Garrett College. Kaitlyn Glotfelty, GC’s director of community and professional education, said the program seeks to “create a network of future leaders that will positively impact the community in which they reside.”
“Participants will help identify regional issues and gain a richer understanding of the leadership structure within our region,” added Glotfelty, noting participants will take part in case studies, networking, individual and group exercises, and oral presentations as part of the leadership curriculum.
Members of the 2025 cohort will also hear from guest speakers from a variety of industries and work sectors, and participate in tours of local businesses. At the conclusion of the program, students will present a solution-oriented project that addresses a local challenge or area of improvement.
Glotfelty said interested individuals should submit applications by January 20th for the 2025 program, which begins February 5th. For more information, individuals should contact Dr. Kimberly Govi (kimberly.govi@garrettcollege.edu, or 301-387-3084).
“The Garrett College staff have formulated a superb curriculum, which they annually tailor to the needs of the enrollees,” said John Groves, a 2024 LGC graduate. “The result is a highly engaging course.”
Leah Knicely, another member of the 2024 cohort, observed that the program “wasn’t all about projects or strategies.”
“The connections I made with classmates and leaders from various sectors of Garrett County immeasurably enriched the experience,” said Knicely.
