Join us for "Guys Readin' Stuff" - just a group of dudes who like books! Adults and teens welcome. Meet cool folks, share the stuff you like. Get ideas on what to read next and help other guys get into books. Guys Readin' Stuff occurs on the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30 PM in the Community Room of the Main Library. If you enjoy cooking, trying new recipes, and eating with friends...then this is the book club for you! It's Friendsville Library's Culinary Connections Cookbook Club! Join us on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 6 pm. Each participant will choose a recipe from a selection of cookbooks to prepare at home and bring to share at the next meeting. We'll have fun trying new foods, discussing our culinary successes (or disasters), and sharing cooking techniques and tips. We'll have a different theme each month, and a door prize will be awarded at each meeting! Only non-alcoholic beverages, please. The Oakland Writers’ & Literature (OWL) Club is a group of 18 years and older writing enthusiasts, tackling a common feeling among writers: the need for some encouragement to write. The focus of OWL is to provide a community for writers to share and workshop their own work, and sometimes the work of published authors. The group uses tools of analysis to identify the literal meanings and themes of all genres of writing, while also discussing the things that most stand out in the work. The OWL club meets Wednesdays at 6:30 at the Main (Oakland) Library, and is an open community where writers can pop in and pop out from week to week and always feel included and welcome when they return. Writings/readings are scheduled in advance of meetings using OWL's community sign-up sheet. The OWL mailing list* is used for distributing this work. Meetings also include weekly writing prompts that attendees are encouraged (though not required) to read and share with the group. The Garrett County Health Department will be hosting a mobile health insurance clinic on the first Thursday of each month from 1:30-4:30 pm at the Friendsville Library. A representative will be available for in-person assistance to apply for health insurance through Maryland Health Connection.

Accident Library invites you to join our needlework group! We meet every Saturday morning at 9:30 AM.
