Grantsville Town Park

The ice rink is located in Grantsville Town Park near the Ruth Enlow Library. All sessions are limited on the number of participants so JTF1 encourages you to buy your admissions in advance but drop-ins are also welcome. Public skates are limited to scheduled times. Please see the schedule below to plan your visit. Follow us on Facebook (JTF1 or jointtrainingfacility1) to get the most up-to-date schedule. RENTALS The Ice Rink has skates for all sizes, helmets, and skate aids for rent. Skates are $2, helmets are $1, and skate aids are $2. Skate aids are only available for children under 48 inches in height. You can bring your own bike helmet. Helmets are not required but encouraged, especially for beginners. Additionally, if you are renting skates, you are required to wear socks. Please wear full-length socks - footies, ankle socks, etc. are not appropriate to protect your skin in skates. SKATE SESSIONS AND PRIVATE RENTALS JTF will hold multiple Public Skate Sessions which are $5 per skater plus skate rental. Additionally, we have two special sessions. Join Discovery Center on this heart health parks, healthy people hike up Meadow Mountain. This hike will start at the Discovery Center, to the firepower on top of the mountain, and then back down. Plan for at least 3 hours as everyone will be climbing the mountainside. The Discovery Center will be open to check out before the hike and enjoy some hot chocolate after. These events are free and open to the public.

An interpretive hike around the discovery trail. This hike is great for people of all ages to enjoy while learning about what lives in the winter woods. Leashed pets are welcome. While this hike is great for small children, it is not stroller accessible. There are many roots and rocks and we will be traveling over. Both hikes start at the Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake State Park. These events are free and open to the public.

Start the new year off with us at Rocky Gap State Park! Along with other state parks across the United States, Rocky Gap State Park will be taking part in First Day Hikes, and have two to offer. Join Rocky Gap State Park at 11:00 AM for a stroll around the campground to learn about the natural sights and sounds around us, and at 1:00 PM for a 5k hike to get your heart pumping! Both hikes will begin and end at the Nature Center in the campground, and conclude with hot chocolate and your I Hike 2024 sticker. Date/Time: January 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM Meeting Location: Herrington Manor Lake House ​Distance: 1.5 miles Address: 222 Herrington Manor Lane Winter and a new year is here. Let's take the first hike (actually sauntering like John Muir) and identify the trees and flora on the beautiful red trail. We might spy an eagle's nest. The trail is an easy grade. Leashed pets are welcome. Please remember to bring water and appropriate footwear. This hike is not stroller-friendly. Bathrooms are located at the Lake House. The hike will be conducted by the Park Naturalist, Richard Hill. Registration is not necessary. First Day Hike 2024: 12:00 PM at The Fork Run Recreation Area. We will hike around the climbing area for about 1.5 to 2 miles. There is an optional hike to the bridge and back, but we will start with the short loop first. I took everyone to the bridge two years ago, and that was a little too far for most. So, the plan will be to hike around the climbing area. If we have snow, we can also do a post-hike fat bike ride.
