All sessions are limited on the number of participants so JTF1 encourages you to buy your admissions in advance but drop-ins are also welcome. Public skates are limited to scheduled times. Celebrate the new year at the JTF Ice Rink at a family-friendly time and atmosphere. The price includes skating, skate rentals, and food. Each paid admission will receive tickets for 2 drinks, 1 hot food choice, and 1 other food choice (chips, candy bar, etc). Reservations will be required for this event. They are also holding a donation drive for Hart for Animals. If you bring a pet supply donation, you will get a ticket for entry to win a $100 Sheetz Gift Card—one ticket per person.

Hike the new Lonacona Loop singletrack trail in the mixed hardwood forests of Allegany County's highest mountain! Expect to encounter rocky terrain, rugged hillsides, and 650 feet of elevation change along this moderately-challenging trail, creating the perfect start to your New Year's health, fitness, and recreation goals. Bring out your aspiring young naturalist on this easy 1-mile hike with Ranger Noah. Kick off the new year by learning all about the native plants and animals that call New Germany home. Afterward, return to the Lake House for a warm fire, hot cocoa, and your official "I hiked!" sticker. No registration is required.
Join Discovery Center on this heart health parks, healthy people hike up Meadow Mountain. This hike will start at the Discovery Center, to the firepower on top of the mountain, and then back down. Plan for at least 3 hours as everyone will be climbing the mountainside. The Discovery Center will be open to check out before the hike and enjoy some hot chocolate after. These events are free and open to the public.
An interpretive hike around the discovery trail. This hike is great for people of all ages to enjoy while learning about what lives in the winter woods. Leashed pets are welcome. While this hike is great for small children, it is not stroller accessible. There are many roots and rocks and we will be traveling over. Both hikes start at the Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake State Park. These events are free and open to the public.

Join Rocky Gap State Park at 11:00 AM for a stroll around the campground to learn about the natural sights and sounds around us, and at 1:00 PM for a 5k hike to get your heart pumping! Both hikes will begin and end at the Nature Center in the campground, and conclude with hot chocolate and your I Hike 2024 sticker. Let's take the first hike (actually sauntering like John Muir) and identify the trees and flora on the beautiful red trail. We might spy an eagle's nest. The trail is an easy grade. Leashed pets are welcome. Please remember to bring water and appropriate footwear. This hike is not stroller-friendly. Bathrooms are located at the Lake House. The hike will be conducted by the Park Naturalist, Richard Hill. Registration is not necessary. First Day Hike 2024: 12:00 PM at The Fork Run Recreation Area. We will hike around the climbing area for about 1.5 to 2 miles. There is an optional hike to the bridge and back, but we will start with the short loop first. I took everyone to the bridge two years ago, and that was a little too far for most. So, the plan will be to hike around the climbing area. If we have snow, we can also do a post-hike fat bike ride.
