Create your own world. Join the Creative Writers Group presented by the Grantsville Library every second Monday of the Month from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. All are welcome. Attendees will hear in-progress work read by area writers and are invited to bring their own work for constructive comments and gentle criticism. The Garrett County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. The Board will meet in the Community Room (cafeteria) of the Dennett Road Educational Complex. The meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed for public review. Public comment for the December Board Meeting will begin at 4:00 PM, after which time the Board of Education will meet in executive session until 5:45 PM. The Board of Education will reconvene for public sessions from 6:00 PM - 7:10 PM. Time is set aside during the public session for the hearing of constituents at approximately 7:00 PM. The Friends work for a better library for the community and speak up for good library service whenever and wherever their efforts are needed. Join Deep Creek Watershed Foundation for a virtual Brunch and Learn session, facilitated by University of Maryland Extension in Garrett County on December 14 at 10:00 AM. Bruce Michael, Deep Creek Lake & Watershed Coordinator for Garrett County will provide a brief update on the Arrowhead Cove Sediment Removal Project. The presentation will cover a summary of the dredging project, why Arrowhead Cove was selected, and slides of existing project site preparation, installation of the cofferdam to hold back lake water from the cove, and the construction of temporary roads/matts for equipment access. HART for Animals has relaunched our Reading Buddies program! Our primary goal is to cultivate a love for reading among children while also providing much-needed socialization for our adoptable animals. They have an array of new books, delicious dog treats, and cozy cushions ready for you. Join them every Thursday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Enzo's Library, conveniently located in our lobby. Bring your young ones, select books from our collection, and enjoy reading to our adorable dogs and cats. Best of all, you can take the books home with you!
