It's the Last Day to Donate Books to the EOTL Bookstore on Saturday, September 7th. Labor Day Saturday is the last day that the End-of-the-Line Bookstore will be collecting donated books. This will give the volunteers time to clear the shelves before closing for the season. Please help spread the word!

Reflection House has embarked on a fundraising and public awareness campaign to support the Reflection House: Garrett County’s First Residential Recovery House for Women. We also want to educate the community and eliminate the stigma associated with substance use disorder. This 2-mile trail route or 1-mile paved course is open to all as a way to unify and strengthen our community. We will walk to raise awareness about this important issue and share the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover. The next Child Fatality Review (CFR) meeting will be held on September 9th, 2024. These meetings occur every 3 months and often consist of an open and closed session. The ride is for intermediate‐level riders looking to apply and improve their skills in a non‐competitive atmosphere. We will ride about 5 miles of intermediate-level terrain (about one loop), with some uphills and fun downhill-flowy sections. Then, depending on the group, we can split off or go for another lap. There will be obstacles that require the rider to get their front wheel off the ground to clear successfully. Basic mountain biking skills are required. Short, steep climbs and descents may be encountered. More fit entry-level riders can successfully ride this intermediate trail. While still “casual” in nature, this pace will have fewer stops than a beginner ride along the way. Riders with average fitness should do fine on this level of ride. The Garrett County Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. The Board will meet initially in Executive Session at Perkins Restaurant from 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM to discuss the Superintendent Evaluation and the Superintendent Goals for 2024-25. The Board will return to Public Session at 4:00 PM at Northern Middle School in the cafeteria for Public Comment. Thereafter, the Board will return to the Executive Session in the Community Room to continue Personnel discussions and a Negotiations topic.
