Reflection House has embarked on a fundraising and public awareness campaign to support the Reflection House: Garrett County’s First Residential Recovery House for Women. We also want to educate the community and eliminate the stigma associated with substance use disorder. This 2-mile trail route or 1-mile paved course is open to all as a way to unify and strengthen our community. We will walk to raise awareness about this important issue and share the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover. REGISTER HERE FOR THE WALK There is a suggested $10 donation to participate although no amount is required. Every person registered to walk will receive a t-shirt. Join Polska Polish Pottery of Deep Creek Lake for a weekly Tuesday Scavenger Hunt benefiting local charities! Sign up your team now (max of 20 teams) and get ready for a fun and exciting competition! The hunt begins at 9:30 AM (but teams are welcome to join until 6:00 PM) on Tuesday at Polska Polish Pottery at Dry Dock Plaza (next to McDonald's). Teams will receive the rules and will have two hours to complete a series of tasks. Each task earns points for your team. The top 3 teams will each receive a gift! Prizes will be awarded at 9:30 AM on Wednesday at Polska Polish Pottery. Team costumes are encouraged! The team registration fee is $25, payable at Polska Polish Pottery. All fees will be donated to a local charity! Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable athletic clothing and shoes to ensure full range of motion during the clinic. Join DCAB for a FREE Intermediate Group MTB Ride! It's getting dark earlier so this is the last 6:15 PM start for 2024... Meet at 6:00 PM at the upper lot (by the pool), wheels down at 6:15 PM. And estimated return by 7:30/8:00 PM. PLEASE SIGN UP AND SIGN THE WAIVER IN ADVANCE!https://x.gldn.io/e/gljxpxvH7Kb We will ride the awesome Dan's Mountain Loncona loop at a casual/moderate pace. The ride is for intermediate‐level riders looking to apply and improve their skills in a non‐competitive atmosphere. We will ride about 5 miles of intermediate-level terrain (about one loop), with some uphills and fun downhill-flowy sections. Then, depending on the group, we can split off or go for another lap. There will be obstacles that require the rider to get their front wheel off the ground to clear successfully. Basic mountain biking skills are required. Short, steep climbs and descents may be encountered. More fit entry-level riders can successfully ride this intermediate trail. While still “casual” in nature, this pace will have fewer stops than a beginner ride along the way. Riders with average fitness should do fine on this level of ride. As you work, you'll learn how to identify common weeds and why protecting native plants is so critical for wildlife. Meet at the native plant garden near the Lake House. Please bring your own water bottle, insect repellent, and sunscreen.

Join Deep Creek Lion's Club to throw some discs for a fun, low-pressure disc golf tournament to help raise funds and awareness for a new project at the park! One round, shotgun start, No OB on this course. Funds raised will benefit the community service work of the Deep Creek Lake Lions. This event highlights the All-inclusive Playground planned by the Club at the McHenry Community Park. There will be amazing hand-blown, custom-engraved glass discs for the winners of the Men's, Women's and Junior (if there are junior players) divisions, as well as other prizes. Join Ranger Mac for a guided hike along the moderately challenging 4.5-mile Lonacona Loop trail. Participants will catch the first foliage changes of fall as they traverse a mixed hardwood forest on Allegany County's highest mountain, and learn to identify many common tree species in our region. Please bring your own water and comfortable hiking shoes. Pets on a leash are welcome.
Join Sang Run State Park for a 1 1/2 mile tour of the historic property and enjoy stories that are a mix of history and the unexplained. The tour will include a stop at the graveyard located at the top of the hill.

This free, introductory class will teach participants water safety, canoe terminology, and basic paddle strokes on land before practicing skills on New Germany Lake. Space is limited to ten people and registration is required by contacting Ranger Julia Musselwhite at julia.musselwhite@maryland.gov. Paddlers must be at least 12 years old to participate and anyone under 18 years of age must have a responsible adult present during the class.
