Celebrate Labor Day weekend with your four-legged friends at Wisp Resort. Labor Day Dog Day is a FREE, family-friendly day featuring live music, dog training demonstrations, a pet costume contest, a pet parade, an artisan market, and more. Register your dog to compete in the Wildcard DockDogs® event, where they'll show off their speed, skill, and jumping ability. Prefer to watch? Spectators are welcome, so come cheer on the canine athletes. Registration is available at dockdogs.com. Also enjoy your favorite Labor Day food — hot dogs with a fun twist! Annual Fireman’s Parade in Oakland, Maryland, takes place on Thursday evening, October 8, 2026, at 7:00 PM as part of the 59th Annual Autumn Glory Festival. The procession features local fire, EMS, and law enforcement vehicles, bands, and community groups through downtown Oakland.
Kick off your Autumn Glory weekend with a run through idyllic Broadford Park. The Oakland/Mountain Lake Park Lions Club hosts the Autumn Glory 5K Run and 2-Mile Walk on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Broadford Lake. 5K runners start at 8:30 a.m., with 2-mile walkers following at 8:40 a.m. Runners may walk, but walkers should refrain from running. Race-day registration and packet pick-up begin at 7:00 a.m. All activities take place outdoors or under an open pavilion, so be prepared for the weather. Parking is next to the start/finish. The course follows Broadford Lake across the breast dam to Simon Pearce glass blowing and back, over a mixture of pavement, mowed grass trails, and gravel road. Bib numbers are recorded manually at the finish (no chip timing), so please wear your bib visibly on the front of your outfit and be sure it is recorded as you exit the finish chute.
