Skyhoundz is BACK! Mark your calendars and get ready for a high-flying weekend of frisbees, fun, and amazing furry talent! Join us for the Skyhoundz World Canine Disc Dog Championship Series, happening July 24–26 at the Deep Creek Lake Lions Club Ball Park in Accident, MD (right next to the HART Animal Center on Bumble Bee Road). Here's what you can expect:  Main Competition: Skyhoundz Disc Dog Championship Saturday, July 25 & Sunday, July 26 Join HART for Animals for two action-packed days of incredible canine athletes competing for a chance to qualify for the Skyhoundz World Championship in Chattanooga, TN! Admission is FREE! Just bring a lawn chair, sit back, and cheer on some of the most talented pups around!  Want to Compete? Think your dog has what it takes? Register online at www.mad-dogs.org for one of six competition classes, ranging from Youth and Novice to Master and Expert. Online registration closes July 20, but Novice and Beginner teams can register on-site starting at 8:30 AM on Saturday. The competition kicks off at 9:30 AM on July 25! Come enjoy a weekend full of flying frisbees, four-legged athletes, and family-friendly fun, all while supporting HART for Animals!

Join us for fun, learning, books, and community all summer long at stops across Garrett County for children ages Birth-5.This summer’s themes are: June: Wild About ANIMALS July: Wild About WHEELS August: Wild About LEGOSEach child will receive a new book, and each family will take home a learning activity and a bag of food. The Ruth Enlow Library of Garrett County will be holding two Save a Story: DIY Oral History program sessions on Monday, July 20, the first from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM at the Main (Oakland) Library and the second from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM at the Kitzmiller Library.  This program, presented by Debra Elfenbein, Maryland State Library Resource Center, will teach attendees how to take an oral history from start to finish. Participants will also watch interviews of the famous, under-recognized, and unfamiliar to learn effective and ineffective ways to save history.
