Garrett Regional Medical Center will be offering wellness blood screenings for community members on June 5, 12, and 19 from 6:00 AM until 9:00 AM at 375 Pythian Avenue in Oakland by appointment only. An additional blood screening will be held on June 17 at Grantsville Medical Center in Grantsville from 6:00 AM until 9:00 AM. The blood screening will be $70. Accepted payments include cash or check made payable to GRMC. The multi-phasic blood screening includes iron, glucose, bun, creatinine, sodium, potassium, chloride, C02, uric acid, calcium, phosphorous, cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, total protein, albumin, total bilirubin, AST, ALT, alkaline, phosphatase, VLDL cholesterol, estimated GFR, TSH, WBC, RBC, hemoglobin, hematocrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, platelets, MPV, neutrophils, lymphocyte, monocytes, eosinophil, and basophil. Join our naturalist at the Discovery Center to learn how to partake in one of the best pastimes Deep Creek has to offer: fishing! Kids between 7 - 15 years old will learn skills that will help them on their own fishing adventures. Registration is required. Registration can be done at the Discovery Center desk with a S5.00 payment. Guardians must remain present during fishing.

Historical Society Annual Dinner

Please join the Garrett County Historical Society at the Pleasant Valley Community Center for a delicious turkey dinner and enjoy our speaker, Denise Shay. Denise is the President of the Yough Glades chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She will ask the question, "Were there no Mothers of the Revolution?" There will be a silent auction with proceeds to benefit the historical society's museums. The cost is $30.00 per person, and it can be paid at the door. Reservations are required, and seating is limited to 100 people. The event is open to the public; you do not need to be a member, and all are welcome.
