The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce has released its 2023-2024 Annual Report, showcasing efforts to support local businesses and promote tourism.

The Oakland branch of the Ruth Enlow Library is raffling a Terrazzo Mosaic afghan, crocheted by Kathy Brungardt and donated by the Needlework Group. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5, available at the library. Proceeds support library programs, with the drawing on July 5, 2024.

During the June GCPS Board Meeting, new curricula were adopted for World History Grade 7 and HealthSmart K-5. Parents can opt out of certain health curriculum sections, and they will be notified in advance. The curricula were reviewed and feedback was gathered between the May and June meetings. Implementation will begin in the 2024-25 school year.

The Appalachian Laboratory of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) recently awarded the 2024 Appalachian Laboratory Inspiration Award to FIRST Robotics Competition Team 1629, Garrett Coalition (GaCo). Congratulations GaCo!
