I don’t know who comes up with this stuff, but today is National Hike with a Geek Day. As a way to unplug from technology and re-engage with the people around them, #HikeWithAGeekDay calls to all of us to get outside and explore more!

The weather today will be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid-70s. West winds of around 5 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. Saturday will be mostly sunny, with highs in the lower 80s. Southwest winds of around 5 mph. Sunday will be sunny, with highs in the mid-80s.

Summer officially begins Friday, June 20, with the solstice marking the Sun’s northernmost point. The new moon on June 25 offers dark skies ideal for stargazing. Around June 27, watch for the unpredictable Bootid meteor shower near the Bootes constellation. Plus, on June 26, a sounding rocket launch is planned at Virginia’s Wallops Flight Facility.
