Garrett County Public Schools Proposed Curricula Adopted

GCPS Proposed Curricula Adopted at Deep Creek Lake, MD

Two sets of proposed curricula were adopted during the June Board Meeting. World History Grade 7 will be the new social studies instructional materials. HealthSmart K-5 Skills-Based Education will be the latest instructional materials for elementary health classes. Of note, some sections of the health curriculum may be opted out by parent(s)/guardian(s). Parents will be notified of these sections in advance.

The curricula were available for review and feedback between the May and June Board meetings to ensure a transparent and inclusive process. This valuable input from our stakeholders has been instrumental in shaping the new curricula, which will be implemented in the 2024-25 school year.
