March 17, 2025: St. Patrick’s Day kicks off a worldwide celebration also known as the Feast of St. Patrick. On March 17th, many will wear green in honor of the Irish and decorate with shamrocks. According to lore, the wearing of the green tradition dates back to a story written about St. Patrick in 1726. St. Patrick (c. AD 385–461) used the shamrock to illustrate the Holy Trinity and wore green clothing. And while the story is unlikely to be true, many will revel in the Irish heritage and eat traditional Irish fare, too.
The weather today will be cloudy, with snow and rain showers likely in the morning, then partly sunny with a chance of snow showers in the afternoon. Little or no snow accumulation is expected. Much cooler, with highs around 40°F. Northwest winds at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%.

Deep Creek Lake in McHenry (#58) offers an intense winter plunge with its deep, icy waters surrounded by snow-covered mountains. Gunpowder Falls in Middle River (#91) provides a brisk dip in fast-moving currents at Hammerman, a scenic spot within Gunpowder Falls State Park. With benefits like stress relief and an energy boost, these locations offer the perfect late-winter plunge.
