Ms. Barbara Baker, Superintendent of Schools, and Mr. Mark Greene, Manager of Communications & Public Relations, presented the Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS) Communication Plan “A Path Forward” at the monthly Board meeting Tuesday, March 8, 2022. This communication plan is focused on, and committed to, strong communication and building relationships with GCPS stakeholders.
There are five major objectives of the plan:
- Clarify the district flow of information
- Provide ongoing training and support for administrators in effective communication with stakeholders
- Provide regular information on district-wide issues
- Create a system to encourage the flow of information from parents/community members to the district
- Publish and distribute informational pieces
There are many facets of the plan that include both printed materials and online publications. Each of these informational pieces will be distributed in a more effective manner going forward to students, staff, Board members, parents/guardians, community partners/groups, and more, as outlined in the plan. The plan also focuses on distributing branded content on a consistent basis to the community and the public.
The plan may be viewed on our website in its entirety. Elements of the plan have already started to be implemented at this time and will continue into the future.
