Garrett County Public Schools Food & Nutrition Services Department is pleased to announce that beginning on Monday, October 3, 2022, all students in GCPS will receive a free breakfast each day. This is in large part thanks to the Maryland Meals for Achievement Program. The program is a state-funded program that allows all students to receive a free breakfast to be consumed in their classrooms.
GCPS has been participating in the program for over 22 years, but this is the first year that all of our schools qualify for the program. Not all schools who qualify for the program are selected; however, GCPS was very pleased when 11 of our 12 schools were selected to participate in the program. With just one school not receiving funding, it was decided to find funding for that location elsewhere. We are happy to say we have secured all funding and are now able to offer free breakfast to all Garrett County Public Schools students for the remainder of this school year.
