The weather today will be cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 71 and a low around 48. ((Ehhh .. that’s cold!)) Saturday will be sunny with a high near 70 and a low around 52. Sunday will be warmer; a high near 74 and a low around 56.

St. Peter’s Summer Mass Schedule ends this weekend. The Fall and Winter schedule will be Saturday Mass: 4PM @ Lake Center on Mosser Road and Sunday Mass: 9 AM @ Church in Oakland.

Did you know the ruby-throated hummingbird makes a 1,000-plus mile journey each year? It travels from Central America back to the eastern United States in the spring to breed. We are fortunate to have ruby-throated hummingbirds return to Maryland year after year.

Despite the cancellation of the Grand Feature Parade, many Autumn Glory Festival events are still ON from October 7 – 11, 2020. There will be a Craft & Gift Sale, the Chamber’s Autumn Glory Float Contest, information on the 2020 Fall Foliage Heritage Driving Tours, a Car Show and the famous Turkey Trail.

The Property Owners’ Association of Deep Creek Lake is an advocate on behalf of the property owners of the Deep Creek Lake area.  To accomplish this, they strive to promote, preserve and protect the quality of life, environment, recreational opportunities, historic sites, and historic areas on Deep Creek Lake and in its watershed, Garrett County, Maryland. The semi-annual membership meeting will be virtual on September 19. Click here to learn more about joining.

I love biking and I’m excited to report there will be a new bike shop in town! The Tiny Corner Bike Shop will open Autumn Glory weekend offering repairs, apparel, parts, and tools, as well as new and used bikes.

Professional: Connor Norman

Connor Norman has lived in Garrett County for the last 15 years and, during the day, serves the community as the Senior Centers Operations Manager for Garrett County Community Action. By night, Connor owns and operates Norman Networking and Promotions (NN&P) offering an array of entertainment and audio promotion based services. He’s experienced with live game show entertainment, event MC/DJ services as well as professional voice over services. He loves Jazz, sandwiches, and sometimes a hike. Connor is a two-time winner of Garrett County’s 2019/2020 Diplomat of the Year Awards, and winner of the 2020 Garrett County Volunteer of the Year award.
