Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 71 and a low around 53. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon. Sunday will be a slight chance of showers, then showers likely, and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 72 and a low around 57. West wind 3 to 8 mph. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
Several new Maryland laws are taking effect today: a law to require police disciplinary records be made available through the Maryland Public Information Act, a law to prevent patient, client, and coworker assault, and a law to establish implicit bias training for health professionals.
Also, intentional balloon releases are now banned in Maryland. People aged 13 or older cannot intentionally release a balloon or organize or participate in a mass release of 10 or more balloons.

This weekend is a busy one around the area with the Buckwheat Festival continuing in Preston County, West Virginia and the Springs Folk Festival in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

Also, the Umbrella Alley happenings continue Saturday — a pop-up cafe and Breast Cancer Awareness Tributes.
Tomorrow from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm is the Grantsville Lion’s Club Oktoberfest & Bier Garten. There will be music, German food, and craft beer, and wine. Bands for the duration of the event include the Oompah Band, Travis Minnick, and the Janice Ray Trio.
Sunday, October 3 at 1:00 pm is Mountain State Brewing Co.: Sunday Bingo!
