Join us for an engaging class that will ignite creativity and foster a love for nature as youth participants design their very own mini fairy frog garden. With hands-on guidance, they'll select and arrange succulent plants, stones, and decorative elements to create a natural scene. Materials are provided, and each participant will leave with their own unique mini fairy frog garden to cherish. Perfect for budding gardeners and imaginative minds alike! This program is a part of Ruth Enlow Library's Student Discovery Series. Our volunteer presenters offer a wide variety of enrichment programs for K- 12 students and their families. Get hands-on and gain confidence in maintaining your mountain bike with this practical 3-hour workshop designed for riders of all levels. Whether you're new to bike maintenance or looking to refine your skills, this session will give you the essential knowledge and techniques to keep your bike trail ready. In this workshop, you'll learn: How to perform a pre-ride safety check. Basic drivetrain maintenance: cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting. How to fix a flat and repair a tubeless tire. Brake adjustment and troubleshooting (disc and rim). Gear shifting adjustments and derailleur tuning. Chain wear and replacement tips. Emergency trailside repairs. Led by an experienced bike mechanic, this hands-on class emphasizes real-world scenarios with plenty of time for questions and practice. Bring your own bike to work on, or use one provided. Leave with the skills and confidence to keep your ride smooth and safe. Perfect for: Recreational riders, weekend warriors, and anyone who wants to understand better how their mountain bike works. What to bring: Your bike (optional), multitool (if you have one), and a willingness to get your hands dirty! Want to help preserve our regional biodiversity? Bring your work gloves, kneeling pads, favorite weeding tools, and some elbow grease to remove unwanted plants from the garden. As you work, you'll learn how to identify common weeds and understand why protecting native plants is so critical for wildlife. Meet at the native plant garden near the Lake House. Please bring your own water bottle, insect repellent, and sunscreen. Meet at the Native Plant Garden (weather dependent)

Occurring on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Grantsville branch, representatives from the Garrett County Department of Social Services will be in the library to serve the community through their assistance outreach program. Customers can come see a DSS staff person at any of these locations to pick up paperwork, drop off paperwork, apply for services like SNAP, CASH Assistance, and Medical Assistance, or just to ask questions about the programs and services offered by our agency. Staff can also provide a referral to other community agencies if we do not have a program to address the person’s needs. ANYONE can access ANY of these locations. This schedule provides flexibility to our customers who may be working in communities away from their home or who may be facing transportation challenges. These locations also provide support to our customers by making DSS forms available to customers during the location’s open hours of business. Customers can look for the file box labeled “DSS FORMS” to pick up forms, information, or a pre-paid envelope in which to return completed forms to our office for processing. If you enjoy cooking, trying new recipes, and eating with friends...then this is the book club for you! It's Friendsville Library's Culinary Connections Cookbook Club! Join us on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 6 pm. Each participant will choose a recipe from a selection of cookbooks to prepare at home and bring to share at the next meeting. We'll have fun trying new foods, discussing our culinary successes (or disasters), and sharing cooking techniques and tips. We'll have a different theme each month, and a prize will be awarded at each meeting for the tastiest dish!
