Join Deep Creek Lake Lion's Club for a celebration of the heritage of the McHenry Community Park, serving the area since 1981! There will be series of events throughout the weekend to share all of the current (and upcoming) amenities we have at the park! A food truck(s) is planned for both days! SATURDAY, May 18th Disc Golf Tournament 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM - Grand Opening of Disc Golf Course and one-day 18 hole tournament. Limit to 54 entries. Custom disc giveaway Register here: Coming soon! A Non-Competitive Walk/Bike Ride to raise money for Cindy's Fund. Cost: $30.00 (T-shirt included) | Toddlers in strollers: Free (no T-shirt) The event is on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Mountain Fresh Farmers Market Pavilion, South 1st Street, Oakland, MD. Registration/Check-In: 12:00 PM | Start of walks: 1:00 PM | 1:10 PM | 1:20 PM Course: Participants may check in at noon. Beginning at the town pavilion, the walk will be in three stages to accommodate any fitness level. Trails will be mostly paved; however, some areas may be gravel or wood paths. Due to safety concerns, the walks will not include the climb to the cross and flag. The bike ride will take place at an earlier date determined by the Vagabond riders. Bikers will be called with information regarding the date/time/start of the ride! Food will be available for purchase before and after the walks. Proceeds go to the event, so come hungry!!! Join Deep Creek Adventure Bureau for a super fun bike and hike as part of the DCL Lions Club Heritage Festival! This event is like a game where you ride your bike to different places and learn cool things about Meshach Browning's history. Here’s how it works: Gather your team --of at least 2-- for an adventure! As you ride our course, you will pick up cards with questions about history. Some places are close and easy to get to, so the questions there give you a few points. But if you ride further and explore more, the questions are harder and you can earn more points! This bike ride is free, but we like when participants sign up ahead of time so we know how many are coming.
