Herrington Manor State Park’s 32nd Annual Fishing Rodeo

Herrington Manor State Park will hold its 32nd Annual Fishing Rodeo on May 11, 2024, from 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM at Herrington Manor State Park Lake. Registration begins at 7:00 AM. A limited supply of fishing equipment will be available for loan during the event. The event is free but entrance fees do apply. During the Rodeo, fishing will be restricted to children ages 3 to 15, with limited adult assistance, and boating will not be permitted for participants.

Discover the important connection between native plants, people, & wildlife at the FREE event! Held at beautiful New Germany State Park in Garrett County, this festival has something for everyone! A great variety of plants native to the Mid-Atlantic region will be available for sale from four nurseries: Wood Thrush Native Plant Nursery - Floyd, VA; Evergreen Heritage Center - Mount Savage, MD; Native Roots, Inc. - Mineral Wells, WV; and Wild Spirit Native Plants - Thurmont, MD. In addition to native plants there will be nature-themed items offered for sale. Life is a Masquerade

Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad 200 Baltimore Avenue, Oakland

Everyone is invited to attend our Life is a Masquerade Community Dance, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad in Mtn. Lake Park. There is no fee for admission, but donations are encouraged with proceeds to benefit the Liberty Club in Oakland. Guests may dress up as fancy or as casually as they like, with the main requirement being that a mask be worn by all. Masks will be provided at the door for those who do not have the means or wish to obtain a mask prior to the event. The Liberty Club is where, on a daily basis, recovery meetings are offered to help those who struggle with addiction and substance abuse disorders. It is where we learn how to live a clean and sober life, but also how to just be better - to ourselves as well as to our friends, families, and community. It is our home away from home. We wanted to find a way to raise funds to keep it open and functioning well, but to also include all Garrett County residents in a celebration of recovery, love, support, and community.
