Weed or Wildflower?

Native Plant Garden 403 McAndrews Hill Rd, Grantsville

Want to help preserve our regional biodiversity? Bring your work gloves, kneeling pads, favorite weeding tools, and some elbow grease to remove unwanted plants from the garden. As you work, you’ll learn how to identify common weeds and understand why protecting native plants is so critical for wildlife. Meet at the Native Plant Garden near the Lake House. Please bring your own water bottle, insect repellent, and sunscreen.

Come find your joy at the circus with silly scientist Gregory May! As a former Ringling Brothers Circus performer, Baltimore City high school science teacher, and Port Discovery Children’s Museum educator, he uses amazing tricks to explore the circus world and the basic scientific principles that make it work. Swallow Falls Hemlock Hike & Spring Cleanup

Come get your hands dirty for this volunteer program. We’ll be clearing litter and sticks from the day-use area and trail. Bring gloves if you have them. Meet at the Swallow Falls Canyon Trailhead. CPR/Stop the Bleed Class

You have the power to restart a heart. High-quality CPR + AED are critical to saving lives. Performing immediate high-quality CPR (including Hands-Only CPR) plus the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) can double, or even triple, survival rates. The Stop the Bleed class will teach you simple actions to stop life-threatening blood loss, enabling you immediately to help save a life. Whether you are a healthcare professional, require regulatory safety training for work, or are seeking to take the important step of learning CPR/Stop the Bleed to protect your loved ones, we have the right training for you. This class is free to the public, but there is a cost of $5. to AHA for the CPR card. Registration is required.
