Join Oakland Library for a storytime designed especially for babies and toddlers. This program stimulates children’s language development and social skills through stories, music, rhymes, and other activities. The Garrett County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The Board will meet at Northern Middle School in the cafeteria. The meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed for public review. Public comment for the March Board Meeting will begin at 4:00 PM after which time the Board goes into executive session until 5:45 PM. The Board of Education will reconvene for public session from 6:00 PM – 8:15 PM. Time is set aside during the public session for the hearing of constituents at approximately 7:00 p.m. Please note, that this time is approximate, and public comment may be adjusted based on the timing of the presentations. Join an hour-long conversation with a special panel discussing research processes to solve family mysteries - specifically challenges related to trying to identify unknown parentage. The discussion will touch upon issues related to research considerations and utilizing DNA testing empathetically and effectively. The event will be pre-recorded and attendees will have the opportunity to connect with other genealogy enthusiasts in the live chat. Moderator Taneya Y.
