Eggstravaganza

Garrett County’s Public High School FIRST Robotics Team 1629, GaCo, will be holding their “Eggstravaganza” on Good Friday, March 29, from 9:00 AM to 12 noon in front of the Garrett County Arts Council’s “The Gallery Shop” on Second Street in downtown Oakland.

Along with “egg” based activities for children of all ages to experience, GaCo will have a shoe shine stand – just in time for Easter! Along with shining shoes, the team will have “egg” activities promoting STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, the ARTS, and Math. Activities will include LEGO machines that decorate easter eggs, learning to draw a “perfect” egg shape using a geometric construction with a straightedge and compass, and a virtual Easter Egg hunt.

GaCo has started its twentieth season, has already competed in two qualification tournaments, and is preparing to compete in its District Championship on April 4-6. The team encourages everyone to stop by to get their shoes shined, visit the Art Gallery, decorate an egg for Easter, and learn more about their program and the team’s exciting partnership with the Garrett County Arts Council.
