Garrett County Public Schools is aware of nationwide threats to other schools but (at the time of posting) had not received any threats themselves. The district is working with local law enforcement and the Maryland Center for School Safety, so you will see increased police presence around schools.

It’s Park PROs – Intro to Canoeing on September 22! This free introductory class will cover water safety, canoe terminology, and basic paddle strokes on land before moving to New Germany Lake for hands-on practice. With limited space for ten participants, be sure to register by reaching out to Ranger Julia Musselwhite.

Grab a hot dog, drink, and more while supporting a great cause! The Grantsville Community Office’s Hot Dogs for Hospice event is happening today from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Make plans for a lunch break that helps support Garrett County Hospice.

Support Garrett County’s first residential recovery house for women at Walk for Recovery this Saturday, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Deep Creek Lake State Park. Choose a 2-mile trail or 1-mile paved course to raise awareness and help eliminate the stigma around substance use disorder. Let’s come together to show that recovery is possible and that behavioral health is key to overall well-being.
