Thursday, October 19, 2023: The weather today will be partly sunny in the morning, then becoming mostly cloudy. Patchy frost in the morning, with highs in the lower 60s and a low of 48. South winds of around 5 to 10 mph.

Today is the first day of a three-day muzzleloader hunting season — remember some local shared-use trails go through land where hunting is allowed! WEAR ORANGE!

The Beall School Road Bridge opened on schedule and within budget at noon on October 13, 2023. Mr. Allen Fisher, a local resident and key project supporter, had the honor of being the first to cross it, as he generously provided unrestricted county access through his property.

Oakland resident Mark Geiger, featured in the Sept./Oct. TOPS News magazine, achieved weight loss success with TOPS-Take Off Pounds Sensibly. Joining in April 2022, he lost 72 pounds, with an impressive 59.6 pounds shed within the first year.
