On April 29, 2025, the Civic Club of Oakland presented a generous $675 donation to AAUW-Garrett Branch, supporting 13 new scholarships totaling over $10,000. This increased contribution will help empower local women and girls in Garrett County through education and opportunities.
The Garrett County Health Department has confirmed a second rabies case for 2025 after two recent incidents involving a raccoon and a fox. Residents are reminded to avoid contact with wild animals and ensure pets are up to date on rabies vaccines.
