Be Like the Willow Donates CuddleCot™ to GRMC’s Family-Centered Maternity Suite

Garrett Regional Medical Center’s Family-Centered Maternity Suite was recently presented with a CuddleCot™ donated by the family of Willow Irene Burman in her memory.

A non-profit organization striving to provide comfort through acts of kindness, Be Like The Willow provided the funds to obtain the CuddleCot™. The organization partnered with another non-profit organization, Ashlie’s Embrace, to bring a CuddleCot™ to GRMC’s Family-Centered Maternity Suite.

Ashlie’s Embrace was founded after the heartbreaking loss of Tony and Erin Maroon’s daughter, Ashlie. Their journey of grief became a mission to support families experiencing stillbirth and infant loss.

The CuddleCot™ is internationally recognized across the world as helping parents who suffer the loss of a baby. The CuddleCot™ system provides bereaved parents with the option of spending time to form an important bond with their baby at the hospital and can help families in dealing with their loss.

“Our unit has truly been blessed by the gift of this CuddleCot™, but even greater is the gift that this will be to our grieving parents for years to come,” said Jeanette Jernell, RN, nurse manager of GRMC’s Family-Centered Maternity Suite. “Our staff is forever grateful to Ashlie’s Embrace and Be Like The Willow for their support and partnership.”

Accepting the CuddleCot™ donation are members of GRMC’s Family-Centered Maternity Suite: Joanne Lambert, CNA, Unit Secretary; Jeanette Jernell, RN, Nurse Manager; Chelsie Pritt, RN; Shirley Rounds, RN; Shalyn Cosner, CNA, Krissy James, RN; and Jaice Jones, RN.
