“A County United” Large Flag Unfurling WE NEED YOU!

Some moments become stories. Help unfurl a 130-foot American flag and be part of Garrett County’s America 250 celebration.

As America counts down to its 250th birthday, Garrett County is preparing a patriotic moment that organizers hope will be one of the most visually powerful of the entire summer — and they need the community to make it happen.

As part of the Garrett 250 Birthday Bash on Saturday, July 18, volunteers from across the county are being recruited to take part in a ceremonial unfurling of an American field flag at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. The initiative, called A County United, is a patriotic tribute for our veterans and will serve as a powerful symbol of community, service, and pride in the generations that have shaped our nation and Garrett County.

While volunteer positions for the flag presentation are limited, the ceremony is intended for the entire community. We especially encourage veterans, active-duty military members, military families, and those who wish to honor their service to attend and witness this powerful tribute. Together, we will celebrate the people, sacrifices, and shared history that have helped shape Garrett County and our nation as the community comes together as one.
