Run for the Son Ride

High Mountain Gospel Riders will be participating in the annual Run for the Son ride held on Saturday, May 4th. Registration will be from 9:30 AM -10:30 AM - Kickstands up at 11:00 AM. Registration will be held at the China Wok/Mt. Top Glass Parking lot area. (13227 Garrett Highway, Oakland MD) Ride will go to Seneca Rocks. Prayer at 1:00 PM Lunch following prayer. Bring packed lunch or there's a small store/restaurant across the road. Leaving Seneca Rocks at 2:00 PM to ride back to Oakland.

Join Ranger Noah and student intern Maddy on this moderate-to-difficult 2-mile hike and learn about some of the 16 native trees that are labeled throughout the park. This will be one of a series of tree talks, with each focusing on different tree species.

Family Movie Night

An outdoor family movie night with popcorn is scheduled for Friday, May 17th, at Veteran's Park from 7:00-9:00 PM. In the event of bad weather, the screening will be moved to Mountain Lake Park Town Hall next to the tennis courts.

Mental Health Month Color Walk/Run and Craft Show

May is Mental Health Month! Come on out to Garrett County Lighthouse Inc. on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM for the craft show and color walk/run! Registration for the walk/run will begin at 1:00 PM. There will be tons of raffles, door prizes, and food, as well as many items to check out from your favorite vendors and small businesses. They will also be hosting a color walk/run to recognize Mental Health Month in May. Vendors: Please get in touch with Maddie or Amber by phone, or at Garrett County Lighthouse, Inc. to reserve a table. All deposits for table rentals must be paid by Wednesday, May 1st, 2024. Please specify how much space you will require and if electricity is needed. Keep in mind, that space and electricity are limited and will be provided on a first come first serve basis. You also have the option to set up your tables on Friday, May 17th, 2024, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

A Non-Competitive Walk/Bike Ride to raise money for Cindy's Fund. Cost: $30.00 (T-shirt included) | Toddlers in strollers: Free (no T-shirt) The event is on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Mountain Fresh Farmers Market Pavilion, South 1st Street, Oakland, MD. Registration/Check-In: 12:00 PM | Start of walks: 1:00 PM | 1:10 PM | 1:20 PM Course: Participants may check in at noon. Beginning at the town pavilion, the walk will be in three stages to accommodate any fitness level. Trails will be mostly paved; however, some areas may be gravel or wood paths. Blessing Ride to Honor Bill and Susanne Roszell

We'll ride to Moorefield and stop at Gennaro's Italian Restaurant (139 N Main St, Moorefield, WV 26836). *** MEAL NOT INCLUDED IN RIDE *** Cost: DONATION. Give what your heart tells you. All are welcome to join this motorcycle ride! This ride is a benefit for Susanne Roszelle, who suffered a stroke on December 28th followed by a heart attack on January 28th. Susanne and her husband Bill are incredibly kind and generous individuals. Susanne is now recovering at home and doing well. Let's honor them with this ride and support their ongoing medical expenses and bills.
