The weather today will be mostly sunny. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the morning, then scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon–highs in the mid-90s. Except in the upper 80s at the higher elevations. West winds of around 5 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. The chance of rain is 40%.

There is a major heat risk noted for today July 15 and tomorrow July 16.

New Germany State Park hosts “Park Pals” Week Two on July 18, a free Junior Ranger program for ages 5-7, every Thursday. Kids will explore nature, identify animals, fish, grow mushrooms, and do arts and crafts. Supervision by a parent/guardian is required. Registration is required and space is limited.

Garrett County Public Schools is creating a three-year strategic plan and seeks community input through focus group discussions in early August. These sessions will last about 1.5 hours and cover what’s working areas for improvement, and priorities for the district.
