Garrett County’s Public School Robotics Team, FRC 1629, GaCo, will be unveiling two “walk-through” mazes on Autumn Glory Saturday, October 16, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Second Street in front of Garrett County Public Schools’ Central Office Building, in downtown Oakland. The mazes are a recreation of two carpeted mazes featured in outdoor science and math-themed playground at the Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. The first fifty students completing both mazes will be presented with a commemorative “I Solved the Stockholm Mazes” Autumn Glory badge.

We post the trout stocking updates but, did you know, there is an interactive trout stocking map? It’s fun to explore!

My First Fish recognizes an angler’s achievement of getting their first catch. Fill out the certificate and print it on a color printer. You can also attach a photo to the top right corner. Any fish caught in Maryland waters is eligible. Fish that do not comply with state law or regulations must be immediately returned to the water.

The recording of the Garrett County Board of Education meeting on October 12, 2021, is now available.

Garrett County Public Schools reminds parents, students, and staff that Thursday, October 14, 2021, is a staff development day with students dismissed 3 hours early. Schools and central offices are closed on Friday, October 15, 2021.

Join the old-fashioned Farmers Market & Craft Show at an outdoor pavilion in downtown Oakland. Handmade arts & crafts, homemade baked goods, pumpkins, fall décor, homegrown fresh vegetables and more… from 10am to 1pm today.

Lego Club is tonight from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm in Kitzmiller. Also, a virtual Friends of the Library Meeting from 5:30 to 6:30pm.
