Happy Star Wars Day!

The weather today will be a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60 and a low of 46. West wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Tonight will be scattered showers, mainly before 5am — patchy fog — otherwise, mostly cloudy.

Nearly 500 students competed in the first in-person Maryland History Day contest since 2019 and Amanda Wilburn (from Northern Garrett Middle School) was selected as District Teacher of The Year.

This week, the US Census Bureau joins the Small Business Administration in celebrating our nation’s small businesses for National Small Business Week!

At Monday’s public meeting, the Garrett County Commissioners proclaimed:

  • May 5, 2022 as National Day of Prayer
  • The month of May 2022 as Foster Care Month
  • May 2 to May 6, 2022 as Children’s National Health Awareness Week
  • The month of May 2022 as Mental Health Awareness Month

Join Oakland Library today at 10:30 AM for a storytime designed especially for babies and toddlers. This program stimulates children’s language development and social skills through stories, music, rhymes, and other activities.

The history of railroads of Garrett County class begins this afternoon at 3pm.

Wisp Resort’s Summer Job Fairs are happening today from 5pm – 7pm.
