The weather today will be mostly cloudy with a high near 74 and a low around 62. Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. West wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.  New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan’s is ending federal unemployment programs — the extra $300/week payments — two months early. His administration said Hogan looked at factors including increasing vaccination rates, job growth, and stories from business owners who say they can’t find people to hire.

Maryland seems to be in the middle of the pack: experiencing the 20th smallest rise in unemployment since COVID.

The Executive Committee of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce announced Regina Sweitzer is the Interim President/CEO.

Three lovely local ladies will be Inducted into the 2021 Garrett County Women’s Hall of Fame: Linda Edwards, Judy Carbone, and Susan Newton! Congratulations!!
