Imagine you live in the 15th or 16th century among your musical friends in a parlor. There are recorders from soprano down to the lowest contrabass. And the viola da gamba players are there too, from treble to bass. Oh, and there is a crumhorn quartet. This is the essence of music during that time.
The players you will meet in the concert Viva la Musica: a Renaissance Musical Journey have devoted their lives to early music such as you will hear on Saturday, September 12 at 3:00 in the beautiful sanctuary of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Oakland. (Across from the library on 2nd Street).

Director Larry Lipnik has performed with many acclaimed early music ensembles from Anonymous 4 to Piffaro and the Waverly Consort, and is a founding member of Parthenia and vocal ensemble Lionheart. He has coached many of these players in the local Marsh Mountain Consort, including Ruth Seib, Tom Johnson, and Marci McClive, who have been playing together since 1979, and Dan and Carol Muss, who have retired this year after several decades with the consort. And we have gained a multi-instrumentalist and new viol player, Mike Broderick.
